What is IP Reputation and why is it so important?

IP Reputation is really part of a 2 part package called Sender Reputation, that also includes Domain Reputation. It is literally a reputation score assigned to an IP address that sends mail. There are a lot of factors that go into this score, but suffice to say, a low score means that your email will not be delivered to your recipients, especially on any major ESP (Email Service Provider) like Google, Yahoo, or Outlook. The things that most impact sender reputation are, spam complaints, mail bounce rates, and unsubscribes. Basically, are you sending email that people don't want? When dealing with shared services such as email, this means that any one user can impact the entire domain(s), server, and IP(s) used for sending mail. As a service provider, it's our responsibility to keep our IP Reputation clean. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to spam. Just don't even try it here. You will be suspended, and or terminated without refund.

As a domain owner, and sender of mail on said domain, you control your domain reputation. It is your responsibility to keep your reputation as high as you can. Google Postmaster Tools, is a great place to start, being that they are one of the largest ESP's out there.
