What is DNS?

The Domain Name System (DNS) translates domain names into numerical Internet Protocol (IP) addresses used by computers on the internet. DNS was created to simplify navigating web sites. So instead of having to remember 123.234.111.123, you only have to remember mydomain.com. Think of DNS as the address book to the Internet.
